Bridgestone Named Official Tyre Supplier for Inaugural GR86 Cup Malaysia Series -

Official Support Race to SUPER GT Malaysia 2025

At Petronas Sepang International Circuit

 

·       The SUPER GT Series returns to Malaysia after a 12-year hiatus, with the Petronas Sepang International Circuit confirmed as Round 3 of the 2025 SUPER GT calendar.

·       The GR86 Cup Malaysia Series will make its debut as the official support race of the 2025 SUPER GT Malaysia round. The series will feature two 10-lap sprint races, showcasing emerging driving talent and the excitement of one-make racing.

·       Bridgestone has been appointed as the Official Tyre Supplier for the GR86 Cup Malaysia Series. All participating Toyota GR86 race cars will be equipped with Bridgestone’s Potenza RE-71RS (225/45R17 94W) — a high-performance tyre engineered for competitive track performance and precision handling.

 

 

Subang Jaya, Malaysia (3 June 2025) – Bridgestone Tyre Sales (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. (hereinafter, Bridgestone) proudly announces its participation in the SUPER GT Malaysia Festival 2025 as the Official Tyre Supplier for the inaugural GR86 Cup Malaysia Series, a new one-make race championship featuring the dynamic Toyota GR86 sports coupe.

The GR86 Cup Malaysia Series will make its debut as the official support race of the highly anticipated 2025 AUTOBACS SUPER GT Malaysia round, held from June 26 to 28, 2025 at the Petronas Sepang International Circuit. Drivers will battle in two 10-lap sprint races, with two additional rounds scheduled later this year — all hosted at Sepang.

The return of SUPER GT to Malaysia after a 12-year hiatus adds historic weight to this year’s event. Malaysia is the only international round among eight scheduled for the 2025 SUPER GT season — with the remaining seven races taking place in Japan.

All race cars in the GR86 Cup Malaysia Series will be fitted with Bridgestone’s ultra-high-performance Potenza RE-71RS tyres, size 225/45R17 94W. The Potenza RE-71RS is a street-legal semi-slick tyre, purpose-built to meet the demands of driving enthusiasts both on and off the track. Engineered for exceptional grip, control, and durability, it aims to deliver the high-performance characteristics required for circuit use while maintaining the practicality needed for everyday driving.
