The 2025 SUPER GT season delivered everything fans hoped for; wheel-to-wheel battles, unpredictable weather swings, and a showcase of engineering excellence from Japan’s most competitive motorsport series.

Across the GT500 and GT300 classes, the year unfolded as one of the most fiercely contested in recent memory, with tyre strategy and consistency proving to be decisive factors throughout the campaign.

GT500: A Season Defined by Precision and Pace

The premier category saw its share of dramatic reversals and commanding drives, but one team stood above the rest. TGR Team au TOM'S emerged as the definitive force of the season, showcasing remarkable consistency and extracting maximum performance at every circuit.

Piloted superbly by Sho Tsuboi & Kenta Yamashita, the #1 au TOM’S GR Supra and defending champions delivered a string of top-tier performances that ultimately secured them the 2025 GT500 Championship title.

Their season was marked by clinical racecraft under pressure and well-executed tyre management that kept them competitive even in the most punishing stints.

GT300: A Showcase of Grit and Rising Talent

While GT500 offered a tale of authority, the GT300 category told a story of resilience and razor-thin margins. Among the standout performers were Naoya Gamou & Togo Suganami, whose K2 R&D LEON RACING #65 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo produced a season marked by determination and speed.

Their consistency and grit to finish each round in the points eventually secured them the championship, with just a 1-point advantage over second-place finisher Kohei Hirate in the Realize Challenge GT-R.

Bridgestone: Performance, Reliability, and Race-Winning Confidence

Across both classes, tyre strategy remained at the heart of competition. Teams demonstrated how critical tyre selection, degradation management, and pit timing were to staying ahead of the field.

The 2025 season saw multiple races decided not by outright pace alone, but by who could best maintain performance over long stints and rapidly changing conditions, from scorching heat at Sepang to the technical tightness of Sugo.

Drivers frequently highlighted the confidence they gained with Bridgestone tyres in heavy-load corners and during late-race pushes, reinforcing how tyre reliability shaped race outcomes and enabled close, competitive battles throughout the year.

A New Era for SUPER GT

The conclusion of the 2025 season marks not just the end of a fiercely contested championship but the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the series.

As teams look toward upcoming technical regulations and evolving race formats, the lessons of 2025 will form the foundation for what comes next.

As preparations begin for 2026, SUPER GT continues to push boundaries, elevate the sport, and inspire the next generation of motorsport excellence.
